It is made in Okawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture known for its woodworking and furniture, which is said to have started about 500 years ago during the Warring States Period. Beyond mere decoration, each piece carries heartfelt wishes. The main motif and individual Kumiko patterns symbolize various wishes, such as protection from evil, long-term family prosperity, and longevity. Whether adorning your own space or serving as a thoughtful gift for loved ones, these pieces hold special significance. The backboard features a reversible design in white and black, allowing you to tailor it to your room’s ambiance. You can feel Japan through these genuine “Made in Japan” products , which are filled with cherished Japanese traditions, culture, and techniques. About Hishigata

Hishigata was named for its similarity in shape to "Hishi fruit" itself means "Water caltrop" in Japanese. Hishi fruit, which are highly fertile, was used to express the wish for prosperity of descendants and longevity. There is also a theory that hishigata represents the heart. Because hishi fruit are sharp, they are also said to ward off evil. Japanese warlords used Hishigata in the family crests.
